Holy F’n S. Just a man and his piano, on stage, just improvising the shit out of it. This album is more of an engaging and active aural experience than passive listening album. Each of the 4 major “movements” of this performance are each unique and beautiful in their own way. However, side 3, takes the cake for me. It seems less like an improvisation and more like a fully composed opus. It’s really haunting.
Recorded in the Opera House in Cologne, Germany in 1975, this performance is surrounded by bizarre lore that’s worth reading about.
