Science IO Headquarters

ScienceIO commissioned Office of Tangible Space to design its New York headquarters around collaborative work. The project focused on creating distinct team zones for focus, lounging, and team brainstorming while maintaining the openness and shared energy of a single workspace. We also introduced elements of wellness and hospitality that could support staff through long working hours. As a part of the brief, we developed custom sit-to-stand workstations with an integrated light fixture that moves with the desk surface, giving each one a visual center as well as illumination without the need for hardwired pendant lighting. Throughout the office, gridded “lobster trap” dividers introduce separation between teams without closing off the room, allowing light and visibility to pass through. Oak, limewash, and stone finishes bring warmth to conference rooms, desk areas, and lounges, balancing the workplace’s technical function with a more tactile and human atmosphere.
